I visited Computer Courage after making an appt to have my laptop fixed by Geek Squad that was 3 weeks from now. I had overnight contracted a nasty virus and my computer was unable to even start up. After typing in “computer repair, emeryville” Computer Courage came up in previous Yelp ratings. I am happy to say, the ratings were on the mark. The lovely Beth was just as she is described, calm and knowledgeable, she quickly explained the terms of service that I would most likely need ( the bandaid vs surgery) took my laptop in and promised me a call with an estimate within 24 hrs. I did receive a call within less than 24 hours and my computer was fixed. Beth had also installed free antiviral software and made a recomendation about installing Windows 7, which was an upgrade from the Vista system I currently have. Being a computer neophyte, I was’nt aware that this was an option, Beth did say say I could do it myself, but Computer Courage does offer that service. Overall, I found the people at Computer Courage very friendly, knowlegeable, and not intimidating for non computer experts like myself to deal with. Nothing worse than walking into a big box store repair counter and being made to feel as if you’re insignificant because you don’t understand all the workings of your computer. I would highly reccomend Computer Courage, because they do what thier web site claims they can do and they don’t make you feel foolish for having so little knowledge about your own computer. They’re also a dog friendly office, you may encounter a variety of friendly canines strolling through, which I found endearing,
I’ve used Computer Courage for several years (10-12 visits to my home over the years) and it’s an outstanding company.The president, Adam, is incredibly knowledgeable about both Macs and PC’s and he has excellent staff. I have two kids and among the three of us we have three computers. Issues include a laptop that went overseas and was so screwed up that my daughter was told by a San Francisco computer company that it needed to be thrown away. Adam got it running just fine. Over the years we’ve been able to get data recovered, improve the speed of our computers, improve security issues, and get terrific help educating us in all sorts of things related to using computers more effectively. Adam and his staff are not only extremely knowledgeable, but they are friendly, patient, and incredibly efficient. And several times Adam has talked me through a problem over the phone as well as given me advice about purchasing a new computer. I am a huge Computer Courage fan.
I found Computer Courage through its amazing reviews on Yelp and I was more than impressed. I called first and they told me to bring my computer right in. I met with Adam who took amazing care of my Dell. It’s a little bit older (4 yrs, ancient for a computer really) and he helped me to figure out what was worth fixing and what wasn’t. He didn’t try to do a million things to the computer just to charge me more. I got the First Aid which cost $150 and worth every penny. My computer runs so much better now and I feel good about keeping it for another few years. Thank you!
I had the most amazing customer service experience with Computer Courage. Apple, Nordstroms, Zappos–stand up and take notice. My Dell desktop (saddled with Windows Vista) suddenly went haywire. I could print a file in Word or PPT but not in Excel or PDF .I got a strange message that my IE was version 0.0.0.0.Etc. Help boards did not help. I did not want to buy a new desktop but wondered if my machine could be saved. Computer Courage made ahouse call and solved everything. They created a new administrator profile, installed new anti-virus software and, best of all, made sure I understood everything before they left. Magic!
I’m not sure if I should brag about being a regular customer, however I have had the pleasure of using Computer Courage 3 times this year. The first was just to reset the Windows password since the cancel button does not actually cancel. The other 2 times were for virus recovery.
Thai and Beth were both very professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. Heck, everyone in the office is friendly. They did all 3 of the jobs right and for a very reasonable price. What really surprised me was the follow up. It’s been a few weeks since the last episode, and yet I just received an email from Thai regarding a bug fix from Microsoft. I consider that going above and beyond the call.
I hope you never need to be rescued, but if you do, call Computer Courage!
I had a computer problem and they made a house call to diagnose and fix it.It took a second call (I had to purchase some hardware to replace a broken piece.), but all was done within the expected time frame and rate. They were reasonable, logical, efficient and pleasant. What more could one ask for?
As a pretty computer savvy person, I haven’t really had many issues with my laptop–which I’ve now had for going on 4 years. But when one of the hinges on my laptop broke, preventing me from being able to close my computer, I knew I needed to get some professional help. After calling Best Buy and finding out that my laptop would have to be sent out in order to get repaired I called the UC Berkeley student store and, was referred to Computer Courage!
I brought my computer in early Friday morning and was able to pick it up–fixed hinge and all–by early afternoon. I was very impressed with the speed and quality of the repair. The entire shell casing of the screen had to be replaced and being that they happened to have a matching part in-store, I was able to walk away that afternoon very happy. 
The staff is very welcoming and did a great job explaining the results of the diagnostic and well as the possible options that I had in terms of repair. And the Yelp deal was a definite plus!!
Adam is wonderful! He helped me sort out all of my computer problems, was extremely helpful and knowledgable, and very responsive! I hate dealing with computer problems, and I am SO glad to have found such a great place to help me! They are very professional, timely, and just all around excellent!
These guys do it all. They have personally helped me with data backup and computer repair. They fixed my laptop that I thought was dead! They have also helped friends and family with a large range of needs from setting up a website, business IT and even setting up a mail server! They are a pleasure to work with and are always able to find the write answer.
Adam and Computer Courage have helped me and my family for five years with hardware and software support and computer repair. He and his team are fantastic– extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and highly efficient. One example– when my daughter returned from studying abroad, her computer was so messed up that a computer repair shop told her it was completely ruined. Computer Courage is great. I had a horrible virus on my computer and could not do anything… I took in my sickly machine, and when it came back I had all my pictures and music and files, just like nothing had ever happened. Actually, my computer was running better than ever! They also gave me some sweet anti virus software. The next time I have a problem, I am going straight to computer courage.
Absolutely professional…. I called ahead, explained my problem, dropped my machine off, and within two hours, Adam personally called me back to briefly explain what was wrong. I showed up, he described the issue in further detail and how he fixed it. I walked out of the store happy… Computer problems can be painful, costly and time-consuming nightmares if you succumb to big-boxes and the Geek Squad. I have never, ever, fel tcompelled to leave a review of any sort on the internet, but Computer Courage deserves it.
A number of issues cropped up with my laptop when I was updating to Windows 7. Itook it in at the end of the day on Wednesday and they had it ready by Thursday (I had to pick it up Friday). Staff were friendly and professional, and pricing was fair, and adjusted to my situation. I’d go back.
These guys are clearly the best in the area, and maybe the best out there. They are exoerts at solving problems and they are refreshingly caring to their customers. They’ve earned my loyalty for life, and deserve yours!
Excellent group. Adam and his team are consummate professionals. They’re excellent at setting expectations, managing them, and then exceeding them. I was skeptical based on many, many disappointments working with web design groups, but they quickly showed me that they were both skillful and sometimes really inspired. I’ll work with them again soon.

I’ve never had a virus I couldn’t fix, until this one: I couldn’t run any of my anti-virus programs, and the system wouldn’t let me install any new ones. These guys fixed me up in just a few hours and did it with a smile and a “thank you”.

I’ve been using Computer Courage since Adam first founded the company some years ago. We’ve been through some traumas together, like a recent complete and horrible crash of my laptop. The attentive staff were able to rescue and reinstall almost all my programs and data against great odds! Even when things did not go right at first, they were generous with their time and efforts – not charging me until things worked correctly. In the ordinary course of life, I have no hesitation in dashing in with a question and have even had to insist on paying for time taken to sort things out. It’s like having a family doctor who knows your strengths and weaknesses, and the technical requirements of the sorts of work you do. (Yes, I now have a backup in the sky somewhere in case I’m caught in a crash again.) An easy five stars!
Computer Courage has been instrumental in my ability to get a music credential from my home: they have helped me to set up and run new computers, external hard drive backups, wireless modems and routers. They are reliable and conscientious and they are concerned with teaching their customers how to solve their own problems. I have great faith in them and call or email them when I’ve got trouble with computers.
I was introduced to Adam and his team by a client of mine when I complained about the frustration I was experiencing with MS Outlook email size limitation. But one call to Adam solve all my problems. Not only they migrated my email platform from Outlook to something more reliable and stable, but they made the process so easy and seamless. In addition to fixing my email problem, they also helped my firm start using remote server storage and backup. They are very professional and have a board base knowledge on what to do with a lot of specialized tax program works. I highly recommend Adam and his team to other small and medium size business. Have worked with CC for 5 years, since they began.They have been EXCELLENT in every way — dependable, reasonable, prompt. They have come to my office and I have brought stuff to their place. Both worked well. They set up our file system, backup systems, and install new equipment about every other year.
This is a really solid, intelligently-run business. Our company (property management) needed a whole boatload of IT services, including a website and server fixes, and Computer Courage came through 100%. We got a customized WordPress website (we had this really simple HTML site before), which increased our visibility on the web, and we had a few different server issues fixed. We now use them for our routine maintenance and troubleshooting. I’d been so used to dealing with our previous clunky IT company, and Computer Courage was just much more nimble and reasonable about our issues. Their employees are smart, really up-to-date, and Adam took the time to discuss our IT options (cloud storage and such) for the future – which I really appreciated. Our web presence and IT setup feels much more stable and reliable now.

I worked with Adam and his team to design my website just before my book was published. I am not a web person so I really needed a lot of assistance (and hand holding). Adam was very responsive, professional and helpful throughout the whole project. When we first met he helped me to define the audience that I wanted to reach and then provided different ideas on how to achieve it. Adam was prompt, caring, and on top of all aspects of the project. He runs a very well-organized and customer friendly company! But the biggest plus was his marketing recommendations!
Mindy Lue, one of Computer Courage’s expert associates worked with me on the nitty gritty aspects of the web site. She always was very prompt at sending me pieces to review and making suggestions on the types of information that would be visually and intellectually helpful to web visitors. Mindy is an expert in computer programming and a talented and caring team member. It was a great pleasure working with her. After the web site was completed she provided training and tools to assist me in maintaining the web site.
