Holliday Development

Holliday Development first came to Computer Courage in 2007. Their systems were running well enough, but they were frustrated with high price tags from another, larger IT vendor who seemed more focused on selling them expensive equipment rather than providing the right solutions. Computer Courage came in and was immediately able to support the existing infrastructure, including an older Microsoft Exchange server, a Windows Server, a Cisco network, and a T1 line with copper phone lines.

Over the next four years, Computer Courage managed to keep the ship running smoothly while making gradual improvements. Now, Holliday Development has a vastly improved IT infrastructure. Gone are the old copper phone lines in place of a modern (and much cheaper) VOIP system. The T1 internet has been upgraded to a blazing fast (and cheaper) wireless microwave antenna system on the roof. Mail, calendar, and contacts have been moved to the cloud, allowing Holliday to more easily access their mail on mobile devices outside the office. We’ve brought down the cost of their antivirus solution and added online backup to their new server – all without any interruption of service.

We just moved our offices and Computer Courage was a godsend. Computer Courage developed and implemented a smooth plan for the transition of all things internet, server and phones to our new space. The computers, internet and phones were up before we could unpack the first box…really amazing. You can work in clutter but there is no way to work without your computer. Thanks Computer Courage!

The Paul Ekman Group

The Paul Ekman Group is a smaller operation, with fewer than 5 employees. Built around the knowledge, history, and entrepreneurial will of Paul Ekman, a world-famous psychologist who has coauthored a book with the Dali Lama, the Ekman group needed a nimble and mobile solution for their IT needs. Paul’s team is spread out across the Bay Area, requiring them to access each other’s files and mail on the go. The team uses almost entirely Macs, while Paul mostly uses his PC laptop, so platform compatibility was a must. Computer Courage worked diligently with Paul and his team to migrate their vast mail archives to Google Apps for Business to build a beautiful and easily editable website and to make sure that Paul and his team can get help with the press of a button whenever they need it. Paul’s team makes use of our remote support service frequently, saving us from regular trips to San Francisco (and thus saving Paul money).

Computer Courage has solved all of my company’s IT problems, and there have been many, quickly, courteously, and instructively. The best help we have been able to find in after years of unsatisfying IT help from other vendors.

The Craigslist Foundation

Craigslist Foundation (CLF) is a nonprofit organization founded in 2000 by Craig Newmark (of craigslist.org) and others. Craigslist Foundation strengthens communities and neighborhoods by bringing together nonprofit, business, government, philanthropy and community leaders around online tools and resources that inspire offline actions. When we first arrived at the San Francisco offices of CLF, they were simply making do with the technology they had. They had an outdated server, some Mac laptops, and a lot of really talented people. Because the staff wanted a nimble and mobile operation, where their laptops were not tied to the office, we moved their entire server solution to the cloud, based on Dropbox.com technologies. Now the CLF staff can access and share files from wherever they are: in the office, at home, or on the go (from their mobile devices). We also helped them set up a wireless printer/scanner and helped install their new VOIP phones, saving hundreds of dollars a month in phone bills and avoiding a costly investment in phone infrastructure. We also contributed to online and print design work as well as sponsoring their annual Boot Camp conference.

Working with Computer Courage is like having an internal IT department without the expense. They are honest, reliable, responsive and make recommendations that are easy to implement and cause minimal disruption to our staff. I also love how creative they are to using new technologies to help us maximize our efficiency while feeling secure about the protection of our data. I highly recommend Computer Courage!
